Union Hiring Hall
Union Hiring Hall is a collaborative project between the Presidents’ Organizing Initiative (POI) housed at the Martin Luther King Jr. County Labor Council (MLK Labor).
We’re here to help job seekers access open positions at unionized workplaces and break down barriers to high-road employment in Western Washington.
Our Program:
Our Union Hiring Hall program approaches its mission in two primary ways: by posting open union-represented positions on our site, and hosting union job fairs across King County. On our website we have uplifted open positions from over 150 union employers, reaching over 5,000 jobseekers in the process.
Over the course of our program, we have had over 50 union employers table at our job events, over 850 jobseekers attend, and over 15 unions and apprenticeships showcase their opportunities.
Our Partners:
We’re proud to operate our program in partnership with Comunidad, a Latino grassroots organization based on Vashon Island, Washington and also organizing in surrounding areas in King and Pierce County. Established in 2009, Comunidad was born out of a collective desire to shift systems that hold back our success.
We’re also proud to operate in partnership with Partner in Employment, a leading workforce development organization in Washington, specializing in providing support to BIPOC, immigrant and refugee workers to overcome barriers to workforce entry.
